PARENTS REJECT DAUGHTER’S POOR BOYFRIEND ONLY TO REGRET IT A DECADE LATER

 

Parents are one part of everyone’s life no one can ever neglect. In fact, many people believe that their first responsibility is towards their parents and later towards themselves. Even after kids grow up and start a life of their own, they prefer taking their parents’ advice before making any big decisions in their lives. Be it a financial confusion or the selection of right life partner, going against parents’ wish is one of the biggest challenges for most of the people. Not everyone can go against their parents’ wish.

However, taking a risk for the sake of one’s own happiness can be good at times. This is the story of those people who followed their parents’ wish and regretted it later.

Parents Vs Children

Ideology clashes are too common a scenario in every other house. There are only two outcomes for this situation: either any one of the sides give up or the argument adds bitterness into their relationship. One boy took his father’s advice so seriously that it changed his life completely. 

Tensed School Days

Michael had seen many rough days in his life. His father worked at construction sites and that’s how the family got its daily bread. Michael did go to school like all other kids but something was missing from his school life, ie, carefree education. You must be wondering what a little boy has to worry about. Well, Michael had a very critical situation that always kept him worried.

Struggling School Life

Even as a kid, Michael understood his family situation very well, he used to see his dad returning home after a long tiring day at work with no job security and irregular wages. He knew it was hard for his dad to pay his school fee yet he somehow managed it all for his son’s education. Every passing year of Michael’s school gave his father assurance that his son is a step closer to doing something good with his life. Sadly, Michael would never be able to complete his studies.

Doing The Best He Can

Michael developed a sense of responsibility towards his family at an early age.  He always tried to do the best he could to support his dad. He started working part-time after his school hours at a nearby book store. This went on smoothly until he finished his schooling. Soon Michael’s expenses were going to increase and a part-time job won’t be enough.

College: A Far Dream

As Michael finished his schooling it started to look quite obvious that his father will not be able to afford his college expenses. The idea of continuing college and earning at the same time might sound brave, unfortunately, Michael needed to earn and spend it further to meet his family’s basic necessities. This meant that a part-time job was never going to be enough for him.

Quitting College

It was the toughest decision that Michael took after completing his school at least that’s what it felt at that moment. When he decided to follow his dad’s footsteps. He decided to quit all his plans for further studies and start working full-time. 

Never Getting It Easy

There are two possibilities in life, either one will get everything very easily or one has to work harder than others to get what he/she deserves. Michael belonged to the latter category and by then he understood it well. Instead of taking everything for granted, he started investing most of his time into working overtime to earn more.

Construction Worker

Now that Michael was employed as a construction worker from a couple of years, he started to be satisfied with his current job and pay. His family always believed that no work is big or small and now even Michael started to believe in it. And soon he got more to believe in, ie, love.

Money Problems

Irene walked into Michael’s life and filled the empty spaces. But this happiness wasn’t going to last for too long. After dating for over a month, Irene asked Michael a question that was about to decide if there is any future to this relationship or not. 

Work Comes First

Irene wanted to know when will Michael continue his studies. Michael honestly went on telling her his plans and how he couldn’t afford higher education. Irene was taken by surprise on hearing all this from him. She grew furious and suggested him alternatives about distance learning but Michael explained how he won’t be able to give enough time to studies on a regular basis.

Break-Up

Irene made it clear that she will not live her life with an “uneducated” man. She had status to maintain in the society and hence she broke up with Michael without even understanding how much he loved her. For Michael, on the other hand, it came as a huge shock.

Brokenhearted

Michael couldn’t believe that his work affected her so much that she felt ashamed to introduce him to her friends and family. Michael became distant from everyone after this heartbreaking incident. It took him almost a year to stabilize all the stressful thoughts.

Keeping Busy

Like always Michael found an escape from his pain in his work. This was his trick to get over the entire breakup experience. His trick worked and in order to move on, he put his full potential in his work. And one day he met a girl who brought him out of his shell but will this time it will be forever? Unfortunately not.

Falling In Love

Her name was Judy and she never judged Michael from his professional background. Within their first few dates, they fall for each other. They were great together as they both respected each other for being a good person, not by their educational qualifications. 

Years Of Joy

For two years, Michael and Judy dated and now they were planning to make the big move. He invited Judy for dinner with his parents. His parents liked her but they too were afraid if Judy will stay with Michael or not. Judy however, assured them that this was a long term relationship, not just a short term fling.

Another Way Around

After getting approval for their relationship from Michael’s parents it was time for Michael to meet Judy’s parents and see how it goes. When Judy invited her boyfriend for lunch, her parents grew anxious and demanded all the information about this guy they were about to meet. Judy, on the other hand, wanted them to first give them a chance to know Michael in person and not make any notions prior to meeting him.

Meeting The Parents

Michael and Judy went to her parent’s place and everything went well. At least that’s how it seemed at first. Right after Michael left from the place, Judy’s parents expressed their concern. After a long discussion, Judy left her parent’s place without saying anything at all. What would she do now?

Disappeared

When Michael called her the other day, she was not answering his calls. She stopped talking to everyone and Michael didn’t understand what was wrong. He went to her place but she wasn’t there. Judy disappeared overnight and Michael was worried. He asked her parents who told him she went out on a trip and they don’t know when she’ll be back. Was everything okay with her?

Disapproval

That day after the lunch, Judy made all the attempts to convince her parents but it only made the conversation take a worse turn. In fact, they made it quite clear to her that they will not be present at her wedding if she marries Michael. In no way, they were going to be supportive of her marrying an “uneducated man” who worked at construction sites.

Devastated

All Judy’s plans to live a happy life with Michael were crushed by her parents. For her, the parent’s approval meant a lot. Also, she truly loved him. It was going to be a life-changing decision to make and Judy didn’t know what to do.

Gave Up

After giving herself a week’s time Judy finally decided to agree with her parent’s wish and leave Michael. With tears in her eyes, she picked up the phone and called Michael to give the sad news. 

Repeat Situation

When Judy told Michael that the two years long relationship was over because her parents didn’t like Michael’s profession, he felt like his heart broke into pieces.  It was like he was back to square one. 

Feeling Hopeless

Michael was now clueless. He started to think that no one will like to be with a man like him. Like always he kept on working to ignore the pain until his friend came up with a piece of useful advice. He suggested Michael look for jobs in Australia as the country pays a much higher amount for the same work that he has been doing in Taiwan.

Moving

Michael took this advice seriously and moved to Australia just to earn more. Moving to a new country can be really tough when one has a strong accent that is hard for any native speaker to understand it. But Michael was determined that he won’t give up after coming this far.

Hard Work

Years passed and Michael made hard work a daily habit. He had so much experience in the construction field that any firm in Taiwan would hire him at a high position. But Michael had even bigger plans for himself.  After five years of extreme work in a foreign land, Michael had enough savings to head back to Taiwan and start something of his own.

His Own Company

Michael soon started his own construction company. Within years his company expanded further that Michael opened one more branch in a different city. He was now being counted among the top contractors in the country. He was successful and his family was proud of him. In the middle of all these joyful moments, his past was soon going to knock at his door.

The Past

One of Michael’s friend told him about his first girlfriend, Irene. She was going through some rough days in her life. His friend explained how she became a victim of selfish marriage life. Her husband cheated on her when she went on a work trip. By the time she returned, her husband flew away with their 5-year-old boy. This led to a divorce and she was still trying to recover from the shock and get the custody of her son.

Another Ex

Judy too wasn’t doing great. She was still unmarried as her parents didn’t like any of her boyfriends. She finally stopped dreaming about marriage and was having a tough time dealing with the fact that her parents will never have the same choice as hers.

Unfortunate Reality

Michael felt bad for both of his ex-lovers and wanted to do something to make them feel better. He was also aware of the reality that both the girls made their own choices and now there was nothing that he could to do for them even if he wanted to.

Finding Love

Before Michael made his name in the construction world, he met a girl named Susan. Unlike the others, she stood by him all this time. She was more than supportive when Michael decided to risk all his savings just to start a business.

Valuable Lesson

Michael and Susan now live a happy life far from the poverty days. Like the rest of all, even Judy’s parents were shocked to see Michael’s incredible progress. But now it was too late for all that as Michael already found his “true love.”
