MAN DISCOVERS SOMETHING ASTONISHING UNDER THE SEA WHILE SCUBA DIVING IN ITALY

 

Think of the days when you took up a challenge and you end up doing completely well. In addition to the completion of the challenge, you do something extraordinary that people would remember you for years to come. Accepting a challenge pushes your limits and helps you grow in a positive direction. Sometimes, a challenge could bring you something other than just a name. Here is a story of a man named Stefano Mariottini, who discovered something astonishing in the process of proving himself to his family.

A Chemist

Stefano Mariottini who was a chemist by profession had a keen interest in traveling and scuba diving. He wanted to be a scuba diver from a young age but his dream of becoming one crashed due to society’s norm of “making money” and having a “good job”. 

Need For A Break

Mariottini was tired of his daily routine of selling medicines and other medical products so he thought of going on a vacation. He really needed a break from his monotonous and not so happening life and explore the underwater world. 

Calabria

Stefano decided to halt a little and take a break so that his life could be refreshed. The place he chose to go to was Calabria which is famous for the coastline and the mountains. What attracted him the most was the sandy beaches. Without having a second thought, he scheduled his trip to Calabria.

The Second Thought

Though Stefano was sure that he would go to Calabria, he was demotivated by his family. His family members doubted his skills and wanted him to stay back. Nevertheless, he rebelled every time he was passed on a comment regarding his skills. 

Packed Up

He was all fed up by the comments and demotivation that was being passed by his own family members. He had zero tolerance levels left. At last he had an argument with his family, the very same night he left for Calabria. 

Shared

On reaching Calabria, the first thing he did was to book a hotel. To his dismay, he could not find a room with single occupancy. He had an option to share with a man double to his age. He agreed to stay with him for a night because he was badly waiting for the next day to come. 

Ignored

As soon as he entered the room, Stefano saw an old man sitting on the chair facing the window. Intending to ignore him, he barged into the room with his bag and searched for his bed. On finding the bed, he turned off the light and closed his eyes so that the other man would think he fell asleep. 

Flashed

On closing his eyes, Stefano’s mind was bombarded with the comments that his family made. He was unaware of what his family was up to and what made them do that. While going through several such instances inside his mind, his tears could not be held back. He sniffled which made his roommate a little considerate.  

Exchange Of Words

It is only after Stefano sniffled, his roommate broke the silence by saying hello to Stefano. It was an awkward situation for the roommate to introduce himself to Stefano as he was crying. Stefano managed to hold back his tears and greeted him with a hello in return. 

Problems

The roommate figured out that something was definitely wrong with Stefano. The roommate suggested Stefano that he could speak his heart out so that he could feel relieved. At that time, Stefano had no one to talk to so he took the piece of advice and started sharing his problems with the stranger. 

Comparison

Stefano felt connected to the man and thought that the man was better than his family members as he was ready to listen. Little did Stefano know, the man he was talking to was a family oriented person and wanted all the people to be the same. Along with that, the man was a little philosophical. 

Lending Ears

Stefano then narrated the whole story to the man. He told him how passionate he was for Scuba Diving. He told how the comments passed by his family members felt like and how he wanted to escape reality by running from it. 

Scripted Destiny

After Stefano was done with his complaints, his roommate sighed and asked Stefano to relax for a while. The roommate concluded the whole topic by saying that, “everything is scripted by with our destinies. You never know where your path leads to. You just have to listen to your heart.”

Satisfied

Hearing those words from a stranger somehow satisfied Stefano to an extent. He thought his arrival to Calabria had something to do with his destiny. With this motivation, he got back to his bed and went to sleep. He had something big to do the very next morning. 

The Next Morning

The sun was up and so was Stefano. He wanted to create a record in scuba diving on that day. He readied himself for the challenges that he would have to face. He wanted to prove his family that he was not a scumbag and was born for scuba diving. 

Untie!

Finally, he inhaled the fresh air. This indicated as if he made a promise to the winds that he would come back. The day was huge for him as he had an anchor of expectations tied to his feet that he wanted to untie beneath the ocean so that he could set himself free.

Diving In

He dived inside leaving his worries on the shore. He kissed the blue water and surrendered his body to it. It seemed he has given his soul to the water in exchange for his escape. He dived in and in but his solace was nowhere to be found. 

Nooks And Crannies

While exploring the sea he made himself a free bird. He wanted to explore every nooks and crannies of the water world. He wanted to be the first person who would make sure that any of the sea area was not unexplored. 

Caught Attention

As he started exploring the sea, even the warnings could not help him to stop. While he was amidst of his exploration, his eyes caught something strange. As that strange thing was very far from the place he was actually diving, he couldn’t tell it what it was.

Another World?

Was Stefano’s escape fruitful? Was he able to find a pseudo world inside this world? Or the world was pseudo and what he thought to be pseudo-world ultimately existed? To clarify this confusion, he decided to get into the matter and see what caught his attention.

No Living Being

At the time he pushed his limits inside the sea and tried searching for the truth, he was all alone. There was no single sign of any living being near to him, moreover, not even a single fish was there to swim along with him. This was actually an indication for him not to go near to the region.

Not Clear

Stefano reached a point from where he could see what was there.  As he went deeper into the sea he could tell that there was something unusual was lying on the bed of the ocean. He took the risk and tried of going near so that he could see if there was someone and something present or not. 

A Hand?

Stefano rotated his head left and right so that he could make sure that he was not in any kind of trouble. As he was doing so, he saw a hand structure still in the water as if it froze with time. He thought that there must be a body that was waiting to be discovered.

Something Bigger

Stefano initially thought it was a human arm, but when he went closer to it, something different turned out. The hand was a part of a huge statue that was lying on the sea bed. The statue was unexplored and looked a little ancient so Stefano thought of taking external help.

External Help

Stefano, on coming back to the shore, informed the higher authorities about the discovery he had made underwater. He marked the location where the statue was and came back with the police. He too wanted to know the secret behind the old statue.

Ancient Sculpture

The team of experts after reaching that location dived into the water. They covered the distance with their pace and reached the location where the statue was supposed to be. The team was astonished by finding the sculpture as it was quite bold compared to other ancient sculptures. 

Nude Statues

The statue seemed to be a work of ancient Greek sculptures. The team found two gigantic nude status of men. The statues belonged to the mid-fifth-century BC. The newly discovered sculptors were the finest sculptures in the entire history as the detailing was done properly. 

Bringing Out

Pulling the statues out of the ocean took a mammoth effort but somehow, the team succeeded. The statues were heavy and because of the rust, they became heavier. They cleaned the statues a little there and brought them on the surface.

More Examinations

To examine the statues, people from the National Museum were sent for further investigation of the statues. They examined and commented on the details that were nicely carved in the statue. They studied the face of the statues that consisted of silver eyelashes, copper lips, silver teeth, and glass and ivory eyes.

Different Era

The two statues found were studied thoroughly and amidst the study, the experts believed that the two statues were of two different eras. Nonetheless, the studies were going on so that they could say the statement with more accuracy. 

Great Warriors?

Many people believe that the statues that were found were of two great warriors who lost their lives during a battle. This theory was somewhat acceptable but yet again, without proofs the team could do nothing other than assuming.

Zeus?

Others believed that the statues are of the Greek god Zeus, who is known for his bravery and was a known name amongst the women. The nudity of the statues showed his boldness and dominating behavior. Yet, this theory could not be implied as it lacked proof. 

Still A Mystery

It was still not clear who placed the statues there. Why were they not discovered? The studies are being done on the same to date. The statues are kept securely in a museum so that people could see how talented the ancient greeks were. 

Made A Name

Stefano, the one who discovered the hidden statues, though was not able to create a record but succeeded in making the history alive. He was then approached by many of the news agencies for several interviews. His family could now see what Stefano was made for. 

Lucky Stars

Stefano thanked his lucky stars for that day. He recalled the talks he made with the stranger, “everything is scripted by with our destinies. You never know where your path leads to. You just have to listen to your heart.”

Pondered

Stefano connected the situation and concluded had he not been rebellious enough, he would have never left his house and take up the challenge of creating the record. Instead of creating a record, he got to discover ancient statues.
