When a relaxing vacation became a near-death experience, the beasty nature

Everyday routine can be draining and boring. Waking up early, rushing to make it in time to the office, getting things done, preparing full meals and handling every chore and assignment can get very exhausting. All those efforts and redundancy can only be fixed with a relaxation weekend where you just let go of everything.

What better place than a beach to find connection to yourself and recharge? After all, the sea has its own calm energy that makes it the best haven for everyone in need of an escape. Feeling the warmth of sun rays while laying on sand, contemplating the clear sky and enjoying the summer breeze. But what if insteading of running from your busy life to the beach becomes running for your life from the beach? Isn't it terrifying? Unfortunately, this is what happened with Maria…

She never thought that her relaxation and recharging trip would turn out to be a living nightmare where she’d have to run for life.

Maria was a young ambitious woman with a great job position at a multinational company. Although fulfilling, her career ended up drowning her in many responsibilities and stress. Her short vacation was much needed if she wanted to continue giving her best at her workplace.

The endless meetings, conferences, high expectations and tight deadlines were all driving her insane, and a break was much needed to gain balance in her life.

She spent some time looking for a nice place to rest her mind and body, somewhere quiet, hiking and rocks weren’t a great option for chilling,

However, life had other plans for her, plans that left her in great awe.

Maria was ecstatic about her vacation, she carefully planned her itinerary, packed everything she’d need for her stay. She was finally going to just relax, sunbathe and forget about the world for a few moments, but was it really the case ?

What seems to be the start of a great day can sometimes switch in a fraction of seconds to turn into the most unexpected experience, which was the case of Maria, unfortunately..

Maria went to one secluded corner of the beach. She spread her towel on the sand, put on her sunscreen and decided to finally let the breeze and warm sun caress her skin.

After a while, she decided to delve into one of the books she brought along, everything was perfect for a long reading pause, the air, the silence and the soft sun. But that was too good to last, a few moments into her books she started hearing unusual sounds coming from behind her..

No one would’ve anticipated what happened next, the source of the sounds was very unexpected, especially not on a sunny day by the beach..

When she realized that the sounds were actually coming from the boulders breaking off from the cliff behind her, she was shocked, blood froze in her veins and her heart started racing. Huge pieces of rocks were falling a few inches from her, Maria was lucky to have heard them before it was too late.

Her survival instincts kicked in and she realized she had to flee before others came falling. She put down her book and removed her towel, running for the other side at full speed.

Maria safely made it to the other side and gasped. Breathing heavily, not able to believe that she actually escaped from an inevitable death. A death she definitely didn’t see coming, but the question was how it all happened ?

Petites-Dalles has never witnessed such a cliff fall. Maria was grateful for escaping from the disaster which  would have cost her life.

When the other beachgoers and officials came to investigate what happened, they were frightened and worried it would happen again with others. The officials immediately decided it was crucial to warn everyone in there and take security measures to ensure that such incidents weren’t going to happen again.

Signboards were installed in various parts of the beach where clif falls were likely to happen.

Well, when all of us consider Maria to be really lucky, there were various incidents from other parts of the world where people weren’t always as lucky. Here comes an incident from the coast of Portsall, France.

The weather was extremely rough on that day, and the beach wasn’t the safest place to be. Strong winds and high tidal movements were observed. However, Oliver, an adventurous man by nature, decided to dance with death at the borders of a wild beach.

Even after witnessing the harsh conditions, Oliver decided to get a little closer from the shore to get a better view of the raging sea. The waves were as high as walls and the rocks were all wet and slippery. He still climbed on them with his phone in his pocket, everything for a god close-up of the blue deep sea.

The friend who accompanied him to the beach was standing a little far from the shore as he knew the risks he’d be taking had he gotten any closer, but Oliver wanted to capture a great photograph. His friend called him to step back when he saw an elderly couple coming by.

When Oliver saw the couple, he warned them that the waves were really high and could easily drag them into the water if they got too close. The minute he said that, a huge wave was making its way to the shore and Oliver’s friend shouted loud to warn him off.

When Oliver turned back to see the wave, but it was quicker than his reaction and brushed him off the rocks.

He was lucky to withstand the wave, but the elderly couple weren’t as lucky as he was. While the woman was safe and sound, her partner was lying in the water.

Oliver and the elderly man’s wife immediately ran to rescue the man. After much struggle, they were able to hold him and drag him to the shore. Luckily, Oliver was there at the right time to help them out and truly saved the life of the couple. Find it here in the video.
