Being a mother is the biggest happiness in any woman’s life. That feeling of holding the infant for the very first time is incredible. No happiness could match that level. Not everyone gets to experience that. The other options such as being a foster mother or adopting a child could decrease the chances of that sheer pain. An adopted child can also bring happiness to the lives of people. It is the bond that matters. Katie Page, a lady, also decided to adopt children so that she could experience what being mother felt like, but, unlike any other adoption cases, she got to deal with the most mysterious one.
Katie Page
Katie Page was born in Alabama and was brought up in Denver. She was raised in an educated family and education is the first and foremost thing that Katie’s family emphasized. She did her schooling from a well-known school and pursued graduation with a scholarship. She was a scholar of her time.
Job Experience
Right after her graduation, she was followed by various job opportunities. Trying and testing her interests, she finally landed up doing what best suited her. She worked as an integrated services manager where she oversaw different projects and met different people.
Personal Life
Katie, as a teenager, never got any time to spare on what other girls were into, that is, establishing a romantic relationship. At that time, she thought it was just a wastage of time, rather, she loved to read books and imagine stuff being into a romantic relationship with any fictional character. The best part of her imagination was becoming a mother to a child.
Marriage
With eyes full of dreams, Katie headed towards her new life after getting married to a man who used to love her secretly during her school days. For her, it was an arranged marriage, but for the groom, his longed love interest promised to share her life with him. Everything was going on track until something drastic happened that flipped the lives of the two abruptly.
Becoming A Mother
Years after her marriage, Katie tried but failed to get pregnant. She faced a severe case of infertility which made her life a little depressing. She used to compare herself with other women of her age and crib about not having a baby of her own. This made her lose many of her friends and somehow affected her married life as well.
Divorce!
No matter how hard she tried, she was not content with the marriage just because she could not become a mother. All her insecurities, comparisons and cribbing made her husband take a big decision of getting separated. This came up as a huge shock to her but, finally, in 2014, they parted their ways.
Aloof
After the day she got divorced, she was constantly been called by her parents to come back to them so that she does not fall into the abyss of depression because she was left alone. Since Katie was an independent woman, she rejects the idea of going back and continued with her living, which included, her house and her office.
Regret
During her married life, she experienced many ups and downs. Issues were resolved and love prevailed every time they got into a fight. She appreciated how her husband tried to put an end to the battle and made her feel special. The only thing she regretted was that she could not give her husband that feeling of becoming a father and cursed herself every time she remembered those days.
Marry Again
Katie was given an option by her parents to get married again to one of her father’s juniors. She was the only one who knew how hard it was for her to love someone again. She clearly told her parents that she was not interested in re-marrying and would like to continue doing her job and living alone.
Public Gatherings
It took a mammoth effort to get ready for any public gathering and meet new people there. She knew that people would talk about her being a divorcee and infertile behind her back, therefore, most of the time she preferred to stay at home and sleep instead of attending any event.
Gave Up?
Katie was living a mundane life with no friends and family. She tried to escape them by not answering their calls and not attending any family function. This made them think that Katie was going through hard times. Although she used to ignore them, her friends and family never gave up on her.
The Escape
While following a monotonous schedule, she thought of finding an escape from all the problems she was going through. She took up the idea of writing blogs and sharing it with people online. This would give her a little comfort in her distressed days. People sometimes took her experiences as a motivation and thanked her for providing a solution to them.
Scrolling
One day, while scrolling through various posts, she got a flashback of her teenage days. She recalled the old times when she used to be carefree and bold to face the atrocities of life. She used to be the life of the party. Many girls used to envy her because she was liked by many men secretly which made ladies of her age insecure about their beauty.
Not The Same
Comparing her old days with the present, she concluded that she was not living her life to the fullest. She blogged, “I remember looking in the mirror one day and sobbing at the woman I saw, and I knew I was not the woman my heart desired to be.”
A New Start
From the day she compared herself to the old her, she promised to herself that she would not be living wrapping around the blanket of emptiness. Rather, she would wholeheartedly devote her time to herself and bring out the best in her.
A New House
Fulfilling her promise, she was being nice to her life. She was on the way to fulfill her dreams which included a house of her own. She bought a new house with 4 bedrooms and continued working at her workplace with new enthusiasm and confidence.
On Track
Her life got back on track from the very moment she decided to be herself. Keeping aside her worries, she headed on to have a good life with all the happiness she could create herself. The only role that she could not play in her life was of a mother and she felt dejected imagining this.
She Could!
Katie, though was out of wedlock, wanted to be responsible in any way or the other. She then thought of adopting a child. For her, having a child was important. She did not distinguish between a biological and an adopted child. She could be a mother and that was all she was concerned with.
Active!
Soon after she shifted to her new house, she began to participate in every event actively. Since she was a known figure to everyone, she was treated in a good way by everyone. People got to know about her nature and she started being friends with them.
One day, while going through the old emails she had received so far, her phone buzzed with a new email. A hope revived inside her heart after learning the context of the email. The email she received was from her church regarding foster care.
Dilemma
When she finally got an opportunity of being a mother, she was in a dilemma about whether to take up the offer or not. She thought over and over and asked her mother regarding the same. It was not a piece of cake to raise a child. She had to be extra conscious if she planned to take up the offer.
Interview Scheduled
It took a whole week to decide Katie whether to grab the opportunity or not. With all her consent, she said a yes to the church authorities and her interview scheduled to a feasible date. She was a bit nervous as she had never had given any interview of that sort.
Showcasing
Before going for her interview, she thought of sharing her feelings with the world. She unlocked her phone and typed the instant thought, “What I heard that evening about foster care gave me chills and scared me, but it also pulled at my heart in a way I couldn’t stop thinking about it”. Her escape gave her the strength to stand against the odds.
1 Year Later
Exactly 1 year from the day she agreed on taking the responsibility of her 1st foster kid, she was ready for her fourth foster kid. Being a foster mother could complete her desires she had when she was a kid back then. But deep down, she was scared to leave those kids when they would be sent for the adoption.
More Than That
Katie was sure that someday or the other she had to let go of the kids she raised and took care of. She wanted to have a permanent connection to the kids and wanted to be called a mother for the rest of her life. So, she planned to adopt a kid legally because she wanted to be a permanent guardian.
Disclosed
She, by all means, wanted to be a mother and adopt a child so she disclosed her desire to adopt one. Katie made no efforts on her own to satisfy her desires yet, she was stern to adopt a kid. Her family and friends appreciated her thoughts and encouraged her to do so.
The Call
Katie received a call from her caseworker about a baby boy who had been abandoned at the hospital. As the boy had no family, he was likely to be a foster-to-adopt situation. She immediately took interest in the matter and asked for more information regarding the same.
Drug Exposer
She was later informed that the baby had drug exposure. Luckily the child got through it and didn’t show any signs of withdrawal. The child was ready to discharge on the very next day. Since no one was there to look after the child, the child was set up for a foster-to-adopt situation.
Agreed
Katie made the decision there and then and told her caseworker that she wanted to adopt the baby. She had four babies to look after already but she wanted to adopt one more so that she could take the baby throughout the lifetime. The surety of adoption was not there as firstly, the baby had to be under the foster caretaking.
Naming The Boy
Keeping other tasks aligned, Katie rushed the very next day to the hospital to pick up the newborn baby. As he was abandoned by his biological mother in the hospital, he was all nameless. Katie picked the boy up in her arms and named him Grayson.
Finding Parents
Katie had another work to do, that is, to find Grayson’s birth parents. She had to make sure that he had no one to look after. If that would be the case, he would be eligible for the further adoption process. She tried finding Grayson’s parents as much as could but all her attempts were in vain.
No Response
She tried posting ads in newspapers and talking to the hospital staff, but no one came ahead with any information. Katie rejoiced from inside as she could keep Grayson forever. After 11 months of that hunt, Grayson’s responsibility was officially given to Katie.
Second Call
It was just after a few months of adoption that Katie received one more call from the same hospital. She went pale and grew insecure if somebody asked her to return the child. She could barely say hello, but when she did, she got an unexpected response.
Repeated
As she received the call, from the other side of the call spoke her caseworker. She told her that there was a four-day-old baby girl with drug exposure similar to that of Grayson. The baby had no one beside and needed to be placed with a foster parent, therefore, Katie was the first name that struck to the caseworker.
It’s A Yes
The baby girl’s case was similar to Grayson’s so without having a second thought, she said yes to the caseworker and the same day, she reached the hospital to meet the little princess. She named the baby girl Hannah and started signing in the required documents.
Filling In The Gaps
Katie, while having a look at Hannah’s medical records, discovered that she had the same level of drug exposure as Grayson and also demonstrated equaling conditions. This made Katie suspect a connection between the two reports. To obtain a clarification on the same, she checked the bracelet of the baby girl. Not to her surprise, the name on the bracelets matched.
Same Mother
Katie discovered that the birth mother of Grayson and Hannah was the same. She thought it to be a miracle that both of the kids got to meet each other through her. Had she not been with Grayson, surely the siblings could not have met each other in their whole lives. She felt good that the siblings were together.
DNA Testing
To add on to her conformity, she conducted a DNA test of both of her adopted kids. The results satisfied her as the DNA matched. She contacted their birth mother, but after getting a cold response from her side, she thought of never contacting her again in the future. She accepted the kids and took up the challenges of being a mother.
One More Please!
Being a mother of two was not enough for Katie. In the year 2019, she headed forward to adopt one more kid. With Grayson and Hannah, one more kid was on the way to share a home. She promised to love three of them equally and treat them equally.
Katie’s Role
Katie played different roles in her life since her childhood. The best among them was being a mother. She always dreamt of having kids of her own, but, she could not produce one. Nevertheless, she loved her three adopted kids the same way as she would’ve loved her own. Her life journey took pace after meeting Grayson and now, she was a new Katie that was full of responsibilities.

While having an interview with a leading newspaper, she stated, “I was a single woman in a four-bedroom house, and now every room in my house is full. It’s never dull. People ask me all the time, How do you do it? I never thought I’d have three babies, but God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.”
