THE FAMILY GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME FINDS SOLACE IN 2 BULLDOGS WHO CHANGE THEIR LIVES FOR GOOD

The Taphouse family was living a blissful life until a misfortune entered their lives. The family of four suffered a big loss when Korey met an accident and gave up his life on the spot leaving behind his young wife and two small kids. Now Emily had to take care of her two kids all by herself. No need to say all hell had broken loose on them. Hazel and June were missing their dad badly. Emily tried her best to cheer them up but nothing worked. It was then Emily thought of bringing a dog home and from there table began to turn………

Tragic Accident

No loss is bigger than the loss of loved ones. Emily Taphouse life shattered in pieces when she heard the news of her husband’s demise. She can never forget the brutality that the month of November unleashed on her and her family in 2016. Korey became a victim of a hit and run case and died on the spot.

Brokenhearted

The man was gone leaving his wife Emily and his two little daughters behind. Emily who herself was heartbroken could not understand how to break this news to her daughters who were waiting for their father. The woman had a whole life before her and that too without her life partner.

Grieving

Dad’s little angel Hazel and June were only 4 and 2 years old when they lost their father to death. No doubt they were too young to understand the gravity of the situation. Of these two, Hazel was very much attached to her father. He was her hero and now his hero had been taken away from her. Emily wondered how would she react to the news.

Explanations

After getting a grip on herself, Emily decided to tell both the sisters about it. But how was she going to put it? How would she tell them that now they will never see their dad? Sometimes life gets so unfair. Emily explained, “Telling her that her dad died, and also that she wasn’t able to see him, was almost worse than the accident itself.”

Fresh Start

No doubt, their lives had been badly impacted by the accident. Everything in the house reminded her of her gone husband. It was time for her and her kids to move on. And that is why she took a tough decision. She decided to leave her past. She decided to relocate to a new place. Somewhere far away from there current home.

New Home

The woman sold their house and bought a new home near the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Along with that she also welcomed a new member into the house so that the kids could overcome the loss quickly. Hazel had withdrawn herself from all the activities. She even stopped talking to others.

Not Helping

But sometimes running away is not a solution. Though the family had moved to a different house, the memories still lingered on. They still found it difficult to get over the past. This all was bothering Emily as she knew that if the hollowness manages to persist in her kid’s heart any longer it would destroy their evolving personality. Moving away did not do the trick perhaps moving closer to someone would do.

New Family Member

The family that was grappling with pain needed someone who could get them out of it. That is when Emily decided to bring a new dog home. It was a cute brown and white bulldog puppy. And with that came the breeze of freshness and happiness in the house. Emily for the first time saw her girls smiling. They named the new member Fern.

A Puppy

June and Hazel were on a ninth cloud when they discovered that they were going to welcome a new member in their house. June jumped in excitement when she saw her new pal. The cute pup stole their heart away. Both the girls were grinning from eye to ear and hugged Fern.

A Patch

Emily maintained, “It’s like I could feel a patch be placed on my heart.” “I watched as my girls squealed and played and loved on her. She changed everything.” she continued. The woman too had grown attached to the pooch. She would take her to playdates that would give Fern a chance to socialize with other dogs. And it was during the same, the woman noticed something really strange.

Lonely

Fern would enjoy herself a lot in playdate but her happiness would fade away when she would make back home. Emily had noticed that. This is true that the pooch was getting loads of love in the house but still something was missing for her. The dog needed someone of her kind to play with. Emily had found the problem and now she needed to solve it.

New Dog

That kickstarted her journey of finding a new pooch. But this search was going to be quite difficult for her. This time she had some preconditions. Emily said, “It seemed that every dog we were finding in the shelters and adoption groups was either not good with small kids, or kitties, or was too old to keep up with our 1-year-old stinker.”

Facebook Post

Despite all her efforts, she could not find a suitable one. But it seemed that the luck too wanted her to get a new dog. A friend tagged Emily to a post that was about a dog called Juno which is also a bulldog with a difficult past. Emily said, “She figured I could help find [Juno] a home, since I’m always trying to help find homes for animals who need them. I took one look at her and said, ‘Yeah. ME!!!’ I just knew.”

Love At First Sight

Emily further stated, “her foster mama, Victoria, told me she had been abused and neglected. I was expecting her to be timid, aggressive or frightened. Instead, we sat on the floor to meet her and she happily laid her 74 pounds directly across my 30-pound 4-year-old.” She also explained how did she feel on seeing her. To her, it was like, “love at first sight.”

Piece of Heaven

Emily described, “She had previously been hit when she tried to get on the furniture.” She realized, “I got her home, and we talked her into going on the couch. She looked like she had found a piece of heaven.” Now the home had two pooches that were extremely cute and adorable. Moreover, both of them got along so well that it became difficult for the world to tell them apart.

A Family

The five-year-old bulldog soon became the lifeline of everyone in the house. The doggy has been described as ‘the happiest tail we have ever met,’ that goes so different from her traumatic past. Juno loved her new family.

Happiest Tail

Emily describes the new addition, “We added a new buddy to our brood! This is Juno. She is 5 years young, and has the happiest tail we have ever met. She was abused the first 4.5 years of her life, but through it all still remains trusting and loving. All she wants is a lap to snuggle on and someone to hold her paw. Fern is madly in love with her. We love her oh so much and can’t wait to make her life one that she loves.”

Best Friends

But what surprised everyone the most was the amazing bond that got formed between Juno and June. They have become each other’s partner at everything. They play together, eats together and goes out on a walk together. The little June takes care of every need of Juno. Emily explains, “June cares for her like she’s a small pupp. She asks her if she’s OK, if she can get her anything. She puts blankets on her.”

Affection For Animals

Emily further states, “June has always liked animals, but had never formed a real bond with one. Until Juno. They are inseparable. They watch TV together, play together, and are touching at any possible time. “Sometimes I think they are communicating in their own way that we don’t understand. It’s the most beautiful and comforting thing,” adds June’s mother.

Things In Common

June and Juno have many things in common. They both love to watch T.V and cuddling with each other. June’s furry friend is as friendly as June herself is. Both of them loves to listen to music too. They never get bored of each other.

Heart To Heart

The best thing is that Juno always gets whenever June feels low. It is perhaps because of the strong connection they have with each other. The pooch would try her best to cheer her up. She would snuggle with her and rub her cheeks to June’s.

Different Personalities

Juno and Fern both are an integral part of the family. Whereas both of them are lovely, they both own different personalities. Fern is playful and lively by nature. You can spot her most of the time jumping or rolling in the garden. On the other hand, Juno is of reserved nature and cuddly. She loves to stay around June and snuggle with her. “She is the most gentle baby,” Emily said while describing Juno. “She quite literally loves anybody and anything. My cats even snuggle up to her,”

Helping Out

Fern and Juno brought only happiness to the family. The family that once drowned in grief now was living a blissful life thanks to these two pooches. Fern lighted up the environment with her playful and fun-loving attitude and Juno showered the girls with lots of love and caring. Not to mention these two did wonder to this drowning house.

Building Strength

The family might have still been in distress had Emily, not brought the dogs in the house. For Emily seeing her kids laughing and playing was enough to push through the lonely days and lives. Emily is very thankful to these dogs who helped them coming back to light from the dark.

Survival

Emily explained, “There was a time when I wasn’t sure I was going to survive this. I wasn’t sure I wanted to. Therapy, medication, all of it just didn’t seem enough to get me through this. I can say with 100 percent honesty that the combination of these dogs and Hazel and June have done more for me than any medical professional has.”

Healing

For Emily, these voiceless dogs are nothing less than healers. Knowingly or unknowingly, they have brought succor to their fresh wound. She explains, “They are light and healing in the sweetest packages.” No doubt, the woman had taken the right decision.

Love From All

Someone commented on the heartwarming pictures of Juno and Fern, “No matter what a dog has been through they will always have the love to give. Dogs are so loving kind and understand how your feeling. As long as they’re loved and feel safe and get taken care of, you will truly have a friend for life.”

Thing From Past

Another person wrote, “We got a dog after my dad died when I was a kid, it is like she was an angel sent from heaven to help us through.” If you have dog as your best friend then you are the luckiest human in the world. No friend stays as loyal as dogs.

Emily Says

Emily writes, “One year ago we found the furry love of our lives. Things were so much different then… I was in a new, exciting relationship. It was the beginning of our moving adventures. The chaos of The Lowe’s Disaster of 2017/18 hadn’t yet begun, and I had no idea what the next year had in store for me. Some of it so, so good. Some of it so, so sad.”

Korey’s Spirit

She further stated, “The entire time, this squishy 40 lb potato of love has found a way to make me laugh and feel love every single day. Sometimes I wonder if she is the embodiment of Korey’s spirit. I don’t know. All I know is that we adore her and don’t remember what life was like without her. We love you, Fern baby. You make the bad days good and the good days even better.”
